Our New Office Policies
We kindly ask that you follow these steps for your next appointment:
- Please brush and floss your teeth before your appointment. Our washrooms and brushing stations will not be available for public use. Additionally, the patient restroom will be closed, so please prepare for that before arrival.
- Please avoid hot or cold drinks up to 30 minutes before your appointment, as it can influence body temperature reading.
- Patients should come unescorted unless too young or if they need assistance. Only one parent/caregiver may accompany the patient. Only patients will be permitted in the clinical area. We ask that parents remain in their car.
- Remain in your car until your scheduled appointment time. Our reception rooms are closed. The front doors will remain locked.
- At your scheduled appointment time, you may proceed to our front door where a member of our team will escort you to the clinic. Your temperature will be taken using a touchless thermometer and a simple screening questionnaire is required to be complete by all patients. Please arrive wearing a mask and keep 6 feet distance between you and other patients.
- Once your appointment is complete, you will be assigned your next appointment time. If this time does not work for you, please email or call our office to reschedule. We will not be rescheduling in person. You will be immediately escorted out of the office following your appointment.
- If parents have questions about treatment progress, or what was completed at the appointment, we are happy to communicate via phone or email.

Dear patients & friends,
We’re reaching out today with wonderful news! We are in the process of reopening our offices, under a new set of strict guidelines to keep patients and staff safe. While your next appointment may look a little different, it's important to know that we have always been on the front lines of preventing the spread of diseases.
We will be rescheduling appointments as quickly as possible. Please note that some appointments are considered high priority, and other appointments can only be completed in certain settings. Although you are eagerly awaiting an appointment it is possible that your exact procedure cannot be completed in our first few weeks of reopening. For this reason, you may not receive a call from us for a few more weeks.
Please do not contact us to schedule an appointment. We will reach out to you.
Thank you for your patience!
Information about our updated policies can be found at ritebite.ca/covid-19.
Kind regards,
Dr. Luis & The Ritebite Team

Dear Family and Friends:
We hope this letter finds you and your family safe and healthy. Our global and local communities have been through a life-changing period, and we are all hoping to return to some sense of normalcy soon. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your health and safety.
A few of you have asked when we will be able to reopen. While our timeline for reopening is still unknown, our hopes are to begin to see all of you for in-office appointments in the coming weeks. We will keep you posted.
Rescheduling Appointments
We have a process in place to start rescheduling appointments, placing priority on patients who are experiencing discomfort or minor orthodontic emergencies.
Please do not call our office to reschedule your appointment. We will reach out to you. We ask for your patience as our team works hard to contact everyone.
At this time, if you already have an appointment on June 2nd or later, your appointment time will not be affected. However, we will advise should there be a change to this.
Your Next Appointment
- At your scheduled appointment time, you may proceed to our front door where a Patient Wellness Coordinator will escort you to the clinic.
Commitment to Healthy & Safety
Our office follows infection control protocols made by the regional dental authorities and public health agencies. We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are current to any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures adhere to the regulations outlined, as dynamics change quickly.
Some changes that you will notice are:
- Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
- We ask for understanding while we will try to address all of your treatment needs during your visit. Individuals with multiple broken brackets may not have everything completed during their next visit due to strict scheduling times.
- All in-office documents, forms and contracts have been converted to digital format.
- Our reception areas, brushing stations and washrooms are closed until further notice.
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.
Thank you for being our patient. We value your patience as we work through all these changes, and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.
Sincerely,
Dr. Luis & The Ritebite Smile Team

Dearest Patients:
Firstly, we miss you all very much!
We hope that you and your families are staying safe. With this continued state of emergency, we know we will not be able to reopen our clinics on April 13th as we originally planned. As you are aware, we continue to receive news and updates making it challenging to predict a timeline for us to reopen. But, we are making plans to ensure we can support our patients effectively and efficiently once we are given the go ahead to open.
- We remain available via phone at (519) 888-6666 or (905) 828-2426, and by email at info@ritebite.ca.
We would like to instruct patients in active treatment to adhere to the following instructions:
- ALL PALATAL EXPANDERS: Stop turning the appliance until your next checkup has been scheduled and you have been given further instructions.
- ALL BRACES PATIENTS: If you have been instructed to wear elastics, please wear them at night time only as to avoid over corrections of the bite. If you are unsure you can email us pictures of your teeth and we will advise you.
- ALL INVISALIGN PATIENTS: If you are currently changing your aligners every 7 days, we ask that you move to a 14 day rotation. If you have a “stop sign” on one of your sets, please do not go past it. When you get to your last aligner please continue to wear it as a retainer, in the evenings and night time only. The last aligner will not be moving the teeth, but will help prevent any shifting of the teeth. If you are wearing elastics with your aligners, please wear them at night time only as well.
We are monitoring the situation daily, and we will provide additional updates if our closure is extended. All updates are shared at Ritebite.ca/covid-19.
Stay Healthy and Safe,
- Ritebite Smile Team

Ritebite Orthodontics
March 16th, 2020
At Ritebite, our patients have always been our top priority, and our commitment to you has only increased during this period of uncertainty.
Under the strict advice of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, all dental practitioners are to stop providing non-emergency dental care. As such, effective immediately, all Ritebite Orthodontics locations are currently CLOSED.
At this time we will not be treating patients except in the case of an emergency. Orthodontic emergencies do not include loose braces, regular adjustments, or other routine visits.
If you are in mild discomfort, please send an email to info@ritebite.ca or call our office. If you don't reach a member of our administrative team, please leave a voicemail and we will respond to you as quickly as possible. You can also visit ritebite.ca/care to find advice on treating minor orthodontic issues at home.
A member of our team will be in touch over the next few days to reschedule your appointment and ensure that your / your child’s orthodontic needs are being taken care of. We can arrange for a comfort visit in the case of a true orthodontic emergency, and we can advise self-care at home for minor orthodontic needs.
We apologize for the inconvenience, however we must remain committed to patient health and safety at this time. The health and safety of our patients, team members, and the residents of our surrounding communities remain at the forefront of all our thinking and actions. Please stay tuned for further updates as these protocols may change as the situation continues to evolve.
Stay Safe,
Ritebite Orthodontics
